Mein Weihnachtsbrief an meine Freunde:
Liebe Freunde, dear friends,
“Yes, we can!” With this message has the President-elect of the USA, Barack Obama, won the hearts and the minds of the American voters.”Yes, we can! – to justice and equality. Yes, we can! – to opportunity and prosperity. Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can repair this world. Yes, we can!” (from a speech of Barack Obama last Jan 8, 2008 in New Hampshire, USA).
But sadly enough the reality of the world is often different. No, we can’t! – heal the wounded souls and broken hearts. No, we can’t – heal our nation. No, we can’t – repair this world. No, we can’t!
But we know somebody who can! It is the God of the Bible, who can heal crashed people and who can bring peace to hurting hearts – even amidst the chaos of this world. HE has all the power and all the love necessary to make it happen. HE is the Lord of Lords. No one is greater than HE – and no one ever has humbled himself like HE did – when HE came into this world in a manger at the very first Christmas in Bethlehem.
What is impossible with men and women that is possible with HIM. Yes, HE can! HE can even change the hearts and minds of people and turn them into God-honoring and people-loving men and women, who care for each other and for the world. Yes, HE can! “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” (Luke 18, 27). This is the watchword for 2009 reminding us that HE can. With such a God we can face every challenge, which the new year might bring for us. Yes, He can!
I wish you and your loved ones a peace-full and wonder-full Christmas and a joyful new year, in which time and again you can see HIS possibilities making the difference in the impossibilities you are facing, because HE can.
Frohe Weihnachten und ein Wunder-volles Jahr 2009 (auch allen Lesern:-),
yours Thorsten
PS: … and please never forget: Yes, HE can!
PS2: Das Foto zeigt einen meiner indischen Freunde – nicht als Nikolaus verkleidet, sondern in seiner Alltagskleidung, weil es bei meinem Besuch im November in New Delhi dort mit 15° schon empfindlich kalt war:-)
